If you follow me on Twitter or Facebook, you might have already glimpsed a few messages about me working on some jewelry pieces for my shop. I've wanted to add some wearable art to the shop for quite awhile now, but as always finding time has been an issue. In the last few weeks though, I've been spending a lot of time working on illustration projects which equals a lot of time spent staring at the computer all day, so I made time to start working on jewelry to give myself a bit of a break from it.
I love doing research for new products--what can I say, I have a BA in History!--so I've enjoyed the hours spent scouring the internet for materials. The hours spent on trial and error haven't been so much fun, but I've finally got it figured out.
Here's a sneak peek of a few in progress pendants that I'm working on today:
These will all be sealed with a resin top coat, then I get to dive into the best part: adding chains and cute little charms with each one.
The plan is to make these available starting in mid-September, so they will be just in time for holiday gift giving. In addition to regular necklaces you will also find lockets, rings and some brooches.
In the meantime, if there's an illustration of mine that you'd just love to see on a piece of jewelry, just leave a comment below to let me know!
